One Change, Multiple Positions: How Dimpro Assist Works in the Editor

Dimpro Assist lets you describe a replacement, locate all affected positions, and review a complete simulation before confirming a single change.

A change that seems small—replacing one component with another—can become a lengthy task when it is repeated across many positions in a document. Beyond the time involved, each manual edit increases the risk of leaving a position unchanged or altering data that should have been preserved. Bulk changes with Dimpro Assist turn this repetitive work into a single controlled operation.

The feature starts directly from the Dimpro CW position editor. When the user clicks “Bulk changes,” Dimpro Assist uses the open document and its latest saved version as the authorized scope. The user only needs to explain the desired outcome—for example, replacing a black profile with a grey one—without going through every composition individually.

Based on that request, the assistant identifies the exact products in the live data and locates every occurrence of the component within the document. The search is limited to its positions: it does not extend to other orders or apply approximate matches. It also checks that the source and target products are compatible before preparing the replacement.

The first result is always a simulation , not a database change. Dimpro CW shows how many components and positions would be affected, presents the before and after, and flags any excluded item or warning. This allows the user to calmly verify whether the interpretation of the request matches what they actually intend to do.

The replacement preserves the measurements, units, quantities, and structure of each position. It then adds the new product’s data and recalculates the document’s prices and totals. This avoids repeating the commercial work already defined while keeping consistent the data that depends on the selected component.

Before execution, the application queries the document again and checks that nobody has modified it since the simulation. If its state has changed or a condition appears that prevents a safe replacement, the proposal is not applied and must be reviewed again. Only an explicit confirmation starts the operation, which runs transactionally so the document is not left incomplete.

The result is a much more agile way to correct or adapt extensive documents without losing control. Dimpro Assist locates, compares, and prepares; the user reviews and decides. Once the change is confirmed, Dimpro CW preserves the traceability of the before and after, so speed never comes at the expense of security or the ability to explain what was modified.
